Company Information

INTRUCEPT Biomedicine is a product-focused enterprise whose sole mission is to discover and develop antiviral biotherapeutics.

Intrucept Biomedicine is focusing R&D efforts on a new class of antiviral proteins, Plantivirals, which block the entry of several classes of pathogenic viruses into their host cells. Plantivirals™ were originally discovered in marine plants, and are now made recombinantly by a process proprietary to Intrucept. The Company’s lead compounds represent truly novel broad-spectrum antivirals – a platform driving the Company’s medical and business strategy.

Intrucept’s drugs in development act by blocking the attachment of viral surface proteins to their receptors on host cells, making them some of the most potent antivirals ever studied. Intrucept is thus poised to develop a new approach to viral disease management as both primary therapy and as adjuvant therapy to vaccines and existing antiviral therapeutics. The viral chelation mechanism of Intrucept’s new drugs also suggests their use in devices to remove viral contaminants.

Founded in January 2006, Intrucept has established an excellent network of government, academic and private collaborators to help implement a focused development and commercialization plan with maximum time and cost efficiencies. The Company welcomes new investors and partners interested in participating in the development of this exciting new concept in the fight against viral diseases.
